Scottish Housing Day: Fraser's Housing Career Journey

Senior Customer Service Advisor Fraser is one of the longest-serving staff members at SafeDeposits Scotland, just a few months off a decade with the scheme.

His previous roles have included being a researcher for an MSP and an advisor with Citizens Advice Direct, the latter being his job immediately prior to joining SafeDeposits and therefore bringing a knowledge of some of the challenges encountered by people living in all tenures of housing.

Nine and a half years have witnessed many changes in the scheme and the sector as a whole, but Fraser says that thankfully there are some crucial elements that have remained the same.

"The scheme's commitment to customer service was evident from my first day here, and I have never seen that waver. My favourite part of the job is helping resolve issues for people so it is and always has been a great fit for me."

"It has always been a good working environment too. One of my earliest memories with SafeDeposits is a team building night at an escape room shortly after I joined, and while people have come and gone over the years the workplace has never lost its sociable element."

Fraser has become a familiar and trusted voice to many landlords, letting agents and tenants during his time with SafeDeposits. So much so that staff attending exhibitions and conferences often find him namechecked by customers giving positive feedback. Furthermore, when one colleague was holidaying in America a few years ago, they struck up a conversation with a fellow Scot who turned out to be a SafeDeposits customer and also mentioned Fraser by name!
