We have an exciting new opportunity for a confident, creative Marketing Officer to join our Glasgow-based team.

Your role is to oversee and implement the marketing strategy for SafeDeposits Scotland. It is vital that you keep up-to-date with current trends and innovations in order that you bring fresh, forward-looking ideas to our brand and marketing reach.

Job description

Your key functions and responsibilities will be:

  • Conceiving, planning and executing the annual marketing strategy

  • Managing the marketing budget

  • Research, develop and deliver marketing campaigns across PR, advertising, direct marketing, digital and social media

  • Write and co-ordinate high-quality educational and promotional blog posts

  • Liaise with PR agency on promotional campaigns and press releases

  • Manage inbound journalist enquiries

  • Oversee the copywriting, design and production of all print and digital material

  • Copywriting and proof reading of documents

  • Attend external conferences and events with the aim of engaging with clients and service users

  • Helping to organise and manage industry events

  • Monitoring the impact of work undertaken and performance against targets, tracking and analysing data

  • Contributing in management and team meetings to provide regular feedback on all marketing activity

  • Liaise with IT agency on developing and maintaining the website

  • Manage all admin related tasks required for the role

As the sole member of staff responsible for marketing in the office, you must be confident about taking the lead on a marketing strategy and all related tasks. You must also be comfortable taking the initiative with content and innovation, being proactive in your approach to the development of our messages.

Person specification


  • At least two years' experience in a marketing or communications role

  • Educated to a degree level in a relevant subject

  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proof reading skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • A sound knowledge of SEO

  • Experience using WordPress

  • Experience using digital and social media tools, applications and analytics, including Hootsuite and Google Analytics

  • Effective use of social media to reach stakeholders

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to deliver on competing deadlines

  • Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative, working autonomously

  • Good team-working skills

  • Skilled use of Microsoft Office and Outlook

  • Devising and implementing a marketing strategy

  • Managing a marketing budget

  • Co-ordinating, planning and prioritising tasks to meet tight schedules and deadlines

  • Proven track record of delivering effective communications - printed, web and social media

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current marketing trends, particularly digital


  • Experience using HTML

  • Experience using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for print and digital design

  • Video editing skills

  • Knowledge of the private rented sector
